MLM: Control Your Thoughts – Control Your Destiny

Excerpt from “The Magic In Asking The Right Questions”, by Bill Mayer

Thinking is the highest function of a human being! Over the years, thinking has been a topic discussed and argued by many of the world’s greatest philosophers, prophets, and teachers. There has constantly been a common denominator among these great minds, supporting one universally accepted truth. This was communicated succinctly by Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich. He said, “you become what you think about.”

An important fundamental belief of Power Thinking is that, in fact, you do become what you think about. These words, when understood and applied, are extremely powerful. Why are they so significant? Read the rest of this entry »

MLM: Listening For Success

Most of us think we listen. We do — to ourselves. We have a “listening repertoire.” We listen “hurry up; get to the bottom line; yeah, yeah, yeah; been there, done that; who do you think you are? yeah, right; prove it.” A speaker has as much opportunity to be heard in a roaring crowd of football fans as he or she would standing in front of someone listening with their “listening repertoire.” Whatever we’re listening to, it’s rarely the speaker.

MLM Leaders who listen allow the speaker to recognize and experience being fully heard, to fully unfold and expand. Ideas actually begin to grow and come to life in the presence of listening.

Who are the MLM leaders you go to for advice, coaching, feedback? Not to the “practical ones” who tell you exactly what to do, how to do it, when to do it. You go to the leaders who listen, brainstorm without censorship, are the least bossy. It’s because by discussing your problems and circumstance with them, you then know “what to do” about it yourself. Read the rest of this entry »

MLM: Some Pre-approaches to find the right people

When I first got started online in the early 90’s, the only way to get an internet connect was to pay by the hour.  I didn’t know anyone else online so for the first year I just surfed, joined email lists and learned.  One of the websites I used was Learn Basic Internet Skills and I also wanted to understand all the abbreviations people were using so I found out about Emoticons and Acronyms

I have to say, I’m amazed that these sites are still there!

Well, I immediately caught on to the power of connecting through email lists and saw the ability to connect with people and build rapport.  Back then I had a successful offline business and not a lot of free time.  I was getting internet bills for over $500. a month, so I figured I better start doing something productive to offset that cost.

Back in those days there were lots of sites paying regular people to help them get people to their site.  So I started reviewing people’s sites and introducing them to the lists I was on.  I was making about $700 a month doing that and decided that there was some real opportunity online. MLM: Game Plan for Your Success

We’ve all heard it…”Fail to plan, and you’re planning to fail.”  Pretty sound and basic advice for anyone who is in an MLM business (or intending to be).

Oh, I can hear it now…”I already KNOW what I need to do.”  Or, “I’ve got it all RIGHT here in my head” or “I’m too small to do all that work!”  That frame of mind is exactly why 95% of the people who become involved in our Network Marketing industry are failing.  If we want success, guess what?  It IS a lot of work.   And the work begins with you developing a Game Plan for Your Success. Network Marketing: Brand YOU

I’ve always admired Tom Peters, the author or co-author of ten international bestsellers, including “In Search of Excellence”, which he wrote with Bob Waterman in 1982.  He is a self-described “prince of disorder, champion of bold failures, maestro of zest, and corporate cheerleader.  But boy doesn’t he rile them up  :-)

Before John Maxwell came out with his Leadership books, Tom Peters had already written “A Passion for Excellence, The Leadership Difference” and that made a major impact on me.  (That was in 1985).

Then he had the “Pursuit of Wow”…”Circle of Innovation”…and the one I want to especially mention today…”The Brand YOU”. Read the rest of this entry »

Network Marketing: Niche to get Rich

Once you define your MLM niche, you are likely to find many other niches within it.

A niche is a clear subset of a larger category.

Home-based entrepreneurs, pet owners, computer users, chocolate lovers and gardeners are all separate niches. Some consumers might belong to several of those niches.

An example of what a niche market is not: “People who want to learn how to shoot better scores in golf.”

In this example, there are far too many people within the main category (golf) to make this a true niche. Virtually everyone who plays golf will want to play better and shoot better scores so this wouldn’t qualify as a niche, much less a category worth pursuing.

An example of a niche market: “Women who play golf who want to learn how to drive the ball longer and straighter.”

This would be a niche because it clearly defines and segments who you’ll cater to and why they would need your service. Read the rest of this entry »

Network Marketing: Narrow in on Your MLM Niche Market

Ok, since a niche is a position of opportunity…think of your specialty, or an area you specialize in.

Hopefully, this connects to your MLM Business in some way…it should!

To determine if a particular MLM niche is right for you, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do I have an identifiable target population with similar interests and needs?
  2. Is the market large enough to support my MLM business?
  3. Can I tailor my products, services, and MLM business identity to address that market’s particular needs?
  4. Is my target market currently underserved?
  5. Can I reach my potential customers in a cost-effective manner?

Niche marketing focuses on a specific segment of consumers.

An MLM niche can be defined by a consumer’s age, gender, ethnic background, occupation, hobbies, and other interests.

Even problems can be a defining characteristic.

An MLM niche can also be created by a need, a want, or a preference. Read the rest of this entry »
