Turn the old Ben Franklin Close on yourself

The Benjamin Franklin Close (also known as “The Balance Sheet Close”) is one of the classic old time sales tactics used to close a sale. Never heard of it? Shame on you — not enough sales training.

The scenario is this: You’ve made your presentation, but the MLM prospect is on the fence, and won’t make up his or her mind.  You’ve tried everything, but can’t get them to budge.

Then you say, “You know Benjamin Franklin was one of our wisest citizens, wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Johnson?” (Get prospect’s agreement) “Whenever he was faced with a decision — and he had some pretty big ones back then — he would take a plain piece of paper, draw a line down the middle and put a plus (+) on one half, and a minus (-) on the other.”

“In his genius he discovered that by listing all the positive elements on the plus side of the paper, and the negative things on the minus side, the decision would become obvious — pretty sound concept, agreed?” (Get prospect’s agreement) Read the rest of this entry »

Building Trust, Admiration and Respect will further your MLM Business

In today’s world of over-selling, hype and fraud at the highest levels of our society, nothing could be more important to an MLM distributor and MLM business owner than building trust, admiration and respect with prospects, customers and associates. Most of us are in a highly suspect business to begin with. Network Marketing, to some people, does not spell value, honor and integrity. Yet to us it does. So how do we bridge the gap and shine some light on what we see in our chosen profession?

Trust

Trust is obviously not given automatically. It must be earned. Too often, we take it for granted — either because we trust ourselves, trust others or fail to recognize in the moment how others may see our offer of financial gain. Trust is earned through what we say and what we do. In these actions we must become predictable and believable to others. Read the rest of this entry »

How To Get Network Marketing Success In a Flash

A flash success in Network Marketing is rare. And when flash success occurs, there usually is a reason.

Many times you’ll hear a speaker at an MLM training or MLM opportunity meeting say, “I just joined, talked to a few people, and by golly, in only one month I reached the top level of achievement and they need a truck to deliver my giant-sized bonus check.”

Well, what the speaker said may be true. She did reach the top and it was fast. Unfortunately, because of time constraints on the meeting, the speaker didn’t get to tell her whole story. So before you buy into any story, be sure you get the Full Facts behind it.

You see, the reason the speaker (s) sponsored such a big downline in her organization in only 30 days was:

1. She had 20 years experience in Network Marketing. She had lots of contacts, relationships and friends who knew her, trusted her, and respected her. Since they were also experienced Network Marketers, they were able to sponsor many distributors quickly as well. The speaker had 20 years of preparation for this so-called “flash success.”

2. The speaker went door-to-door in her city and everyone she talked to joined her program. Too bad there wasn’t enough time during the meeting to mention that her father was mayor of the town, owned all the houses, and that the tenants felt obligated to do whatever his daughter suggested.

3. The speaker worked as an assistant teacher for 40 years in the community. She also taught junior high sports. Everyone in town knows her, trusts her, and respects her. in fact, she taught most of the town’s residents. How could you say “No’ to the person who used to make you clean the erasers?

Instant, flash success?

I don’t think so.

You have to earn your success in Network Marketing. That’s why some people grow faster than others.

So, if you don’t have any friends, people hate you, no one respects you, well, you’ll just have to start building some new relationships to get your business started. Once you’ve built the relationships, your business will grow.

Networking is done successfully with people who trust you. If you don’t have anyone to network with, go out and build some trust.

The Pain and Pleasure of MLM Prospecting

Have you ever procrastinated?

Yes? Good. (I was afraid I was the only one.)

So why do you think you and I do that?

I think I know — we procrastinate because we associate more pain with the process of doing than we do pleasure from achieving the result.  Maybe you put off cleaning out the garage, because you perceived a greater pleasure in watching a football game. Or perhaps you procrastinated for so long that it eventually became easier — less painful — to just take action and complete the task. For example, if it takes a half an hour every time you try to find something in the garage and your spouse is constantly on your back about getting it straightened up, the thought of not cleaning the garage is probably more painful than actually cleaning it.  We mostly act on our emotions and then rationalize our actions with logic and thought.

Didn’t you fall in love with your car and then rationalize how you could stretch to pay for it? Did you do the same thing with your house? You fell in love with it and then rationalized how you would pay for it, or figured out a way to fix it up. The
controlling force in our lives is almost always pain or pleasure.

Before we take a look at how this applies to Network Marketing, here is another illustration of the point: Have you Read the rest of this entry »

How to ask for and get Everything you Want

One of the best ways to improve your odds of getting what you want from anyone is to think about your request before you actually make it.

The big reason many people fail to get what they want is that they are too afraid to ask or they view their requests as all-or-nothing position -instead of a series of negotiations and compromises.

But there is a middle ground. Here are strategies to help you begin the “asking” process and avoid becoming angry if things don’t go exactly as planned.

Tell yourself there is nothing to fear except fear itself.  Fear of punishment or rejection is why most people hesitate to ask for what they want. They are afraid that going out on an emotional limb will result in humiliation if they fail. Read the rest of this entry »

There IS only ONE thing to Fear in your MLM Business

Building an MLM business can be a scary experience for some people because it involves talking to other people – and talking to other people means exposing yourself to the possibility of rejection and disappointment.

No matter how often you tell yourself that when someone says no they are only rejecting the MLM opportunity (and truthfully, their own potential) and not you, it still hurts!

No matter how often you tell yourself that you get paid for telling your story, regardless of the outcome, or that every no is a valuable learning experience, it is still disappointing.

No matter how often you tell yourself that getting a “no” doesn’t mean you have failed, it often feels like you have.  And if there’s one thing most people want to avoid at all costs, it is Failure. Read the rest of this entry »

Why Your MLM Business Isn’t a Booming Success

You may have some of your MLM organization just starting out or they could be veteran business owners, but very likely, you want to be earning more money than you are right now.  Or perhaps you’re earning a substantial amount, but you’re tied to your business far more than you’d like to be.

The bottom line is that you don’t yet have the MLM business & the lifestyle you want.  Why not?

In business and life alike, there are only three (3) reasons for not having what you want:

  1. What – You don’t know what you want
  2. How – You don’t know how to get it
  3. Why – You have a self-induced limitation

It’s that simple.  So which is it for you? Read the rest of this entry »
