The Power of Great Questions in MLM

Let’s focus on finding the solutions and strategies you need to make your MLM dreams come true. You have a dream – now lets ask, How are you going to make it come true?

Success requires that we ask practical, powerful, positive questions every day.

Almost all human behavior is the result of asking and answering a question. Whether we realize it or not, when we adjust the thermostat, we are taking action based on the question, “How can I make this room more comfortable?”

Similarly, when we stand in front of the cabinet or refrigerator, we are often hoping to answer the question, “What will satisfy my hunger?”

In the same way, our personal and business decisions are the result of answering questions we ask ourselves. Typically, we choose a career based on questions such as, “What would I love to do?” or “What are my skills?”. Sometimes we select a job based on questions like, “What opportunities are available?” or, “Where can I get a job to support myself and my family?”

What quickly becomes clear is that, consciously or unconsciously, we are asking and answering questions all day, every day. We are always asking ourselves, “What’s the best thing for me to do now?” or, “What’s next?” Our behavior is shaped by our questions about how we can be more comfortable, solve our problems or achieve our dreams.

At this point, it is critical to notice that different people ask different questions, and more importantly, we have to really get that different kinds of questions lead to different kinds of answers. If you don’t understand and build your life around that truth, you are doomed to achieve only haphazard results.

Consider the difference between asking yourself, “Why can’t I ever do this right?” and asking yourself, “How could I learn to do this better?” The first question challenges the brain to find reasons why you never have, and probably never will, ever, do “this right”. Your brain is a brilliant servant, and it will find an answer to any question you ask of it, so if you ask “why can’t I?” questions, you’ll get answers about why you cannot. If, on the other hand, you ask “how can I?” questions, you will inevitably and reliably get answers suggesting ways in which you might succeed.

The quality of the questions we ask accounts for virtually 100% of the quality of the answers we receive.

Some people (not you!) spend their entire lives asking negative questions. They ask, “Why is life so unfair?” or “Why am I stuck in this dead-end job, marriage and lifestyle?” Other people ask more positive, creative and fun questions like, “What would I really like to do next?” or, “How can I earn more money next year?” They ask themselves, “How could I surprise my spouse and put a little spice in our relationship today?” Or, they ask themselves, “How could I be a better parent?” or “How could I have more fun today?”

Asking, “Why can’t I?” is a set-up for depression and misery. Instead, begin the morning with, “How can I make today a great day?” Ask, “Who can teach me?” Ask, “Where can I begin?” Ask, “What if I could …?” Ask, “If anyone has ever done this, how did they do it?” Ask better questions and you’ll get better answers.

Here’s a practical suggestion, in the form of a question: why not write out a series of great questions and review them every morning? I have done this for over 30 years. The questions have evolved and changed from time to time, but I always keep a series of 3×5 cards on my desk with one great question on each side of the card. As I sip my coffee, I ponder one or two cards each morning. It’s a wonderful way to start the day, and over time, those questions have challenged me to find wonderful, fun, lucrative and immensely satisfying answers. You can do it, too!
