Why Your MLM Business Isn’t a Booming Success

You may have some of your MLM organization just starting out or they could be veteran business owners, but very likely, you want to be earning more money than you are right now.  Or perhaps you’re earning a substantial amount, but you’re tied to your business far more than you’d like to be.

The bottom line is that you don’t yet have the MLM business & the lifestyle you want.  Why not?

In business and life alike, there are only three (3) reasons for not having what you want:

  1. What – You don’t know what you want
  2. How – You don’t know how to get it
  3. Why – You have a self-induced limitation

It’s that simple.  So which is it for you?

What – You Don’t Know What You Want

Becoming very clear about what you want in business or in life is the critical first step to getting it.  If you don’t have a clear vision of how you’d like your lifestyle or MLM business to be different than it is now, you’ll never find fulfillment in either.

Take time to create a very detailed image of what you want and write it down.  By becoming clear about what you want and setting your specific intention to get it, you’ve already done half the work.

How – You Don’t Know How To Get It

Once you know what you want, it’s just a matter of learning how to get it.  You can educate yourself by visiting various web sites, reading books/ebooks/magazines, subscribing to ezines,
participating in online discussion boards, taking teleclasses, attending workshops, hiring a coach or consultant, getting a mentor, etc.

Learning what you need to know in order to pursue your goals may take some time but it’s a critical and necessary step to creating the business and lifestyle you desire.  The faster you gain this knowledge, the faster you’ll achieve your goals.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer, seek out specific step-by-step how-to processes for approaching each task.  If you want a faster track, invest some money in hiring a coach or consultant to show you exactly what you need to know – just be sure the financial investment you make with that person is equal to the value that you can get as a result of working with them.  That value may be in terms of money or in terms of increased fulfillment and satisfaction with your life.

Why – You Have a Self-Induced Limitation

If you are clear about what you want and you know how to get it, why don’t you have it yet?

Usually, it’s because you have some sort of self-induced limitation – some fear or belief that is subconsciously holding you back.

For years, I subscribed to Writer’s Digest magazine professing my desire to write and submit my articles to national publications. I learned exactly what I needed to do and how to do it, but I never actually took the step to write and submit the query letters to my targeted publications.

Finally, I gave myself a tough love talk and said, “Look, you know what you need to do to seek national publication and you know how to do it.  Either do it or stop putting it on your goal list every year.”

So, why wasn’t I moving on my professed desire for national publication?  I was afraid of rejection.

Your self-induced limitation could be:

  • fear of failure
  • fear of success
  • fear of rejection
  • fear of stepping out of your comfort zone
  • fear of making a mistake & revealing your imperfection
  • pursuing a goal that is not your own (seeking approval)
  • lack of confidence in your ability/skill/knowledge
  • belief that you don’t deserve to reach your goal
  • belief that it’s not really possible to reach your goal

Face it – if you know what you want and you know how to get it, this is the only possible reason that you aren’t moving forward.  So, what’s holding you back?

To discover your self-induced limitations, talk your situation over with a friend, colleague, mentor, coach or therapist.

I want you to get what you want in your MLM business and in your life.  The fastest way to do so is by identifying and addressing which of the three (3) reasons is holding you back.

Do you need a vision (what)?  Do you need more information (how)?  Or do you need to work your way around a personal obstacle (why)?

Apply this concept to any part of your business or life to determine what action you need to take to move forward starting today.

And, by the way, I did become a nationally published author.  My first article was both paid and published by Home Business magazine. :-)

I love the last part, self-induced limitation, I guess I finally found my situation, I am somewhat afraid of rejection, somehow I am holding back. But how do you suggest I address it? Aside from the above.

By the way I would like to share to you a great resource for business people, the Young Entrepreneur Society from the http://www.YoungEntrepreneurSociety.com.

Rejection is a part of life Eddie. How many times have you asked someone on a date and they said NO? Or just to dance? How did you react, what did you feel?

What you may need to realize is a no doesn’t mean stop…it simply means not yet.

What you have to realize is all the great people you are missing out on meeting and building rapport with because of this rejection issue.

I also think your fear may be holding you back because you don’t feel prepared. Have you discussed this with your sponsor? I would ask them to let you listen to their calls or whatever part is holding you back so that you experience the situation as an observer.

I’ll continue to think on this and post some other useful articles. If you want to expand on what is really holding you back, I could probably address it dead-on.

What Do You Think?
